Do training pants count? I'd love to try the Happy Heinys Pocket Trainers if so for my Daughter. I bought her some of the Gerber trainers and she leaked within a minute of putting it on. If not then the bumGenius 4.0 One-Size Cloth Diaper. I tried the velcro bumGenius and wasn't a big fan, but loved the FuzziBunz. Since I'm looking to diaper triplets the bumGenius would be a cheaper option and they were a little smaller which means I could start using them earlier.
I am a FB fan :D

Jennifer said... 59 My daughter Ashlyn and I were sent here by Sarah Rank. Almost 90% of all my mommy friends cloth diaper. They are always talking about the benefits and it has sparked my interest. I don't have the knowledge that they do so I've always been hesitant to start. It's also rather expensive to get started and I don't even know which diapers will be best or work for us. I think that Ashlyn and I should win so that we can get started on our journey to a happy and healthy fluffy little booty!

My name is Kristina and I have a very fun loving 19 month old boy named, Micah. I have chosen to stay at home at this time and thus, I am looking for ways to be more economical. Just last night, I learned from a lactation consultant about the ease and benefit of cloth diapering! I was so unaware of how much it REALLY costs to use disposables (vs. cloth diapering) in regard to my son's health (dioxin!) and the earth, not to mention, financially. As a result, I am so excited to start cloth diapering and hope to get the hang of it for my son and for more children after him! :-)
Anonymous said... 121 My name is Roman, and I am trying to convince my wife to try cloth diapering! It may sound funny that a husband is trying to get his wife to CD, but where I come from that is the norm. My SIL cloth diapers so my wife is able to see how it is done these days (beyond prefolds and pins), but she doesn't see the good of spending that much at one time. This would be the perfect opportunity to show my wife how economical cloth diapering is! For this reason, I am entering me/us into this contest!

I will be sending emails to the winners soon and they will have 48 hours to respond and claim their prize. Again congratulations and good luck in your journey into cloth diapering!
For those that didn't win, become a fan on Facebook - we always have great specials and small giveaways on there too. And if you are interested in more information on cloth diapering, please contact me - justine@fluffenvy.com !! I can answer any questions you may have and if budget is an issue, I'd be glad to work something out with you too (from discounts to payment plans)!!
Thank you all for entering!

Thank you sustainablebabyish for sponsoring Fluff Envy's "I Don't Cloth Diaper...YET" giveaway!
If you are in the market for an overnight solution, look no further! They offer a variety of fitteds and flats, as well as wool covers and longies. Their wool is so soft and I just can't wait for their new fall colors to come out soon! The fitteds are extremely absorbent and when paired with the wool it is a bulletproof overnight combination!I have to say that this is my favorite part of their website "sustainablebabyish|sloomb has partnered with Trees for the Future to offset the carbon generated in the production and care of each of our cloth diapers and knit wool covers.
when you purchase a sustainablebabyish cloth diaper, a tree is planted in Southeast Asia.
you know choosing cloth diapers keeps disposables out of landfills. now, your choice also reduces carbon emissions and helps reforest the planet."
Sustainablebabyish has very generously donated a pair of wool longies to our giveaway! One lucky winner will be able to give wool a try from the very beginning! We have personally switched to wool recently and love it! I was scared of wool, thinking it would be hot, scratchy and hard to care for but it is the exact opposite! It's soft, helps maintain body temperature and is so easy to care for. We really love it and are excited that there is wool in the prize package!Where can you find them? Stop by and thank them yourself!

I Can't Afford to Cloth Diaper...Or Can I?
I hear about so many people that want to cloth diaper but say that they can't afford the start up costs. Yes, the start up costs can appear very overwhelming, but they don't have to be! There is no rule that says you have to start cloth diapering full time. It's NOT an all or nothing thing. You can start slowly and build your stash whenever you can. Soon you'll be spending less on disposables and can set that money aside to buy more cloth.
Being an accountant, I started playing around with numbers today. I've come up with a 6 month process to cloth diapering. It does take a little bit of money to start. But after the first month, you will spend the same amount of money (or less) as you would with buying disposables each month.
Of course I've made some assumptions. They are:
1 - You go through 9 diapers a day
2 - A case pack of 184 diapers will cost $42 (this is a sale price on diapers.com with a $1 off coupon. No tax added.)
3 - You have ZERO diapers in your house at the start of the six months
4 - A cloth diaper will cost $20***
5 - You have $50 to make the switch to cloth (birthday money, savings, gift, tax return refund, etc)
***As many of you have pointed out, you don't need to spend $20 on ONE diaper. You can buy a dozen prefolds and 3 covers for under $50...and that would be enough diapers to get you through an entire day.
In one six month period of using disposables (using the above assumptions), you will spend $376 and go through 1,674 diapers (YIKES!!).
Now let's say that you've made the decision to cloth diaper. On day 1, you do the following:
Buy 1 case of disposables ($42), buy 2 cloth diapers ($40) and one container of cloth diaper friendly detergent ($11). So that's $51 more than you would normally spend. That is your investment - a one time cost that is above and beyond your normal diaper budget. This is the ONLY time in the six months that you will spend more than you usually do.
During month 1, you will need to buy another case of disposables ($42). However you are now only using 7 disposables a day vs. 9. Yes, the laundry for 2 diapers can be a bit cumbersome, but if you want to make it work, it's only short term!
During month 2, you buy one more cloth diaper. You also need to buy another case of disposables ($42). Now you're using 6 disposables a day and you've already cut your monthly amount of disposables by almost 100!! Feels good, doesn't it?
By month 3, you buy another cloth diaper ($20) and realize that you don't need to buy a case of disposables this month! You do the happy dance in celebration!
Month 4, again you buy another cloth diaper ($20) and another case of disposables ($42). By now you've cut your monthly amount of disposables by over 150 AND you're using cloth more than disposables. Another happy dance? I think so!
In month 5 you buy another cloth diaper ($20) and decide to only get 1/2 case of disposables ($20) since you see a light at the end of the tunnel and don't think you'll need them for much longer. You are now down to using only 3 disposables a day.
In the final month of the transition, you splurge and buy 2 cloth diapers ($40) and use 1 disposable a day just to get rid of the rest of what you have on hand. No need to buy anymore disposables!! You have 8 cloth diapers on hand, which is a pretty good start!
During those 6 transition months, you spent a total of $359 vs. $376 using disposables alone. And going forward, you are no longer spending $63 each month on disposables. So you can continue to build your cloth diaper stash as you see fit. You can add accessories, if you want (wet bags, pails, cloth wipes, etc) and you can still stay at or below your disposable diaper budget each month. AND don't forget that even used cloth diapers have a great resale value...so when you are done with them you can get some of your money back! Try doing that with a dirty disposable...
Another bonus to starting slow is that you can try out a diaper one at a time to see if you like it. I've seen people buy 24 of the same diaper to start out. Then they decide that they don't like that kind and give up cloth diapering. Starting slowly will give you a great idea of what you like and don't like.
As always, if anyone has any questions, I'd be glad to answer them! You can contact me from my website here.
And for those that are considering trying it out, here's an added deal for you on www.fluffenvy.com. Buy any diaper and any SAMPLE size of detergent and get free shipping with coupon code TRYCLOTH. Free shipping does not apply to full size detergents or prefolds.
Good luck on your journey to cloth! It is well worth it in the end!!

Sponsor Spotlight: AppleCheeks
Thank you to our next sponsor of the "I Don't Cloth Diaper...YET" giveaway!!
AppleCheeks has so many great products, it will be hard not to list them all!! Their versatile diaper is a favorite in our house. It can be used as an All-in-Two/AI2 (lay the bamboo insert on top of the pocket and reuse the cover) or a pocket diaper (stuff in the insert inside the pocket). My husbands favorite part? You don't have to unstuff the diaper before washing! My favorite part is the fit. They are a two-size system. Size 1 fits from 7-20 lbs and size 2 fits from 18-40 lbs. They have elastic in both the front and the back of the diaper, so even the squirmiest baby doesn't get gaps around their waist. Love it!
AppleCheeks has all of the products to get you through cloth diapering and being a mommy - envelope covers, inserts, boosters, liners, storage sacs, cloth wipes, cleansing solution, nursing pads, swim diapers and even waist extenders to get the most use out of your diapers! Did I mention that all AppleCheeks products are 10% at Fluff Envy? If you haven't tried one, now is the time! If you've tried them before, you already know how great they are, so stock up!
For our "I Don't Cloth Diaper...YET" giveaway, AppleCheeks has very generously donated THREE Little Bundles - one for each prize basket. A Little Bundle includes an envelope cover (now available in 8 gorgeous colors) and a 2 layer bamboo flat. This is a very trim, very absorbent diaper with an amazing fit!

The rules are simple. If you don't cloth diaper yet, you can enter. That means that you have never cloth diapered before. If you are unsure about cloth diapering or would love to try, but don't have the money to start - this contest is for you!! Or even better - do you know people who cloth diaper and think that they are crazy? Then enter to win and see for yourself how great (and easy) cloth diapering is! We would love to get updates from the winners a couple months from now to see how everything is working out!!
Want to win but do you already cloth diaper? Refer your friends, co-workers, relatives, neighbors, strangers...anyone to the giveaway!! If they win and say that you referred them, then you win a $25 gift card to Fluff Envy!
The prizes are pretty fabulous...so please give the sponsors some much needed love! During the course of the contest, I will be posting spotlight posts about each sponsor. It will tell a little bit about them, what products they have and what they have donated. There will also be links to their Facebook and Twitter pages, blogs, newsletters, etc. Please do them a favor and look them up. It is not required but it would be VERY appreciated!! If you would like an easy way to follow them on Facebook, you can look at Fluff Envy's favorite pages and mark them that way :)
So do you want to know what the prizes are?? It is still preliminary but I can share what I have so far. I will continue to update the prize baskets as the contest rolls along. This is a list of what we have - these items will be broken out into 3 prize baskets at a later date.

Get Ready!!
We're still working out the details and sponsors, but it looks like the 2nd "I Don't Cloth Diaper...YET" giveaway is right around the corner!!
For those that weren't around for the first one earlier this year - here is the quick version of it. Anyone that is not currently cloth diapering can enter....but they have to be NEW to cloth diapering. So if you cloth diapered a previous child who is now potty trained and you're pregnant with another that you plan to cloth diaper, I'm sorry but you cannot enter. This giveaway is to recruit new people to the wonderful world of cloth diapering. So if you have friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc who give you *that look* when they see that you cloth diaper, ask them to sign up for the giveaway. Tell them that they should really try it before making an opinion on it :) Or if you know people who are on the fence about trying, send them over! OR if you know someone who really wants to try but can't commit to it right now (for whatever reason), get them entered!!
The giveaway will be run on this blog. People who enter will get ONE comment to enter, so no hoops to jump through...just a few requests. If they comment that someone referred them to the contest, then the person who referred them will also win something. So get out there and talk to people!!
If you have questions and/or comments, please feel free to ask them now before we get started.
And I would like to end with a shout-out to the sponsors that we have so far! These are amazing, generous people and companies - so please show your appreciation!! Like them on Facebook, follow them on Twitter, read their blogs and newsletters. There will be much more info coming on our sponsors, but it's never too early to thank them.

GossamerScapes Review & Giveaway-CLOSED
I am very excited to team up with Maria from GossamerScapes to bring you this review and giveaway!
GossamerScapes takes breathtaking photographs of Maine and also makes beautiful custom pendants using personal photos or decorative paper. You can simply send her a a favorite photo and she will make it into a custom pendant for you! What a great way to keep a loved one close to your heart! While I absolutely love the photo pendants, there was no way I could just pick one of my girls - so I opted for the decorative paper pendant. She currently has papers from India, Japan and Italy...not to mention her own abstract designs. She has even more pendants in her sneak peek on Facebook - so if you see something there that you like, be sure to ask her about it!

I fell in love with one of her custom abstract designs. It's a 7/8 inch square pendant set on a diagonal which makes it even more unique. My Journey Into Mama Cloth-CLOSED
I'm going to start off with a TMI warning...because we are talking about mama cloth here. So if you want the full story, there may be a little TMI. If that upsets you, please stop reading now. Thank you!
I had been curious about mama cloth for quite some time but I was always afraid to take the plunge into the unknown. It was very much like my start to cloth diapers 3 years ago. What will the laundry be like? Will it be gross? What will others think? What do I need? How much do I need? What do you store them in? What about stains?
After being pregnant or breastfeeding for 6 years, I finally felt AF getting ready to make her appearance. I figured it was now or never, so I shopped around online, asked a lot of questions and finally made my first purchases. I had decided on GEM Cloth and Luna Pads. I got a starter kit of GEM Cloth - 2 each of 3 different sizes. I also got a Luna Pad with some extra liners.
The GEM Cloth are on the left, showing each different size. The Luna Pad is on the right with one of the extra liners. I really like how you can keep the same pad with the Luna Pad and simply replace the liners. They stay in place very well.
Now to answer all of the initial questions that I had wondered about.
What will the laundry be like? I am cloth diapering, so I just throw them in with all of the cloth diapers. No big deal. When we no longer cloth diaper (sniff, sniff) then I will probably change how I store them prior to wash and throw them in with our regular laundry.
Will it be gross? Honestly, this was my BIGGEST FEAR before I started. I couldn't help it - the whole idea had a bit of an "ick" factor for me. The only thing that got me past it was to actually do it. Similar to cloth diapers, you're still dealing with the same mess - it's whether you throw it in the trash when you're done or throw it into a wet bag/pail.
What will others think? Who cares??!? I don't care that people turn their noses up when I say that I cloth diaper. I don't care what they think when I say that I use mama cloth. They just don't know what they are missing out on...
What do I need? / How much do I need? I started off with not enough. But I didn't want to invest in too much to begin with. I would rather buy one of several different kinds, figure out what I like most and go from there. I started with 6 GEM Cloth in varying sizes and a Luna Pad with 4 liners. I was easily able to keep the same pad and add a new liner. But my flow is rather light. I would think that if you wanted to do the same, that you could get a liner with more absorbency. They make minis all the way up to heavy/postpartum liners. I also got a small wetbag to keep in the bathroom. That's it. I will definitely be getting more pads and liners - I don't want to run out mid-cycle. How many you need depends on your cycle, your flow, etc. NOTE - your flow will generally be less and your cycle will be shorter when you switch to cloth. I don't fully understand the science behind it but it's something about the chemicals in disposable pads and how your body is fighting to rid it of the chemicals - so it makes you cramp more and have heavier/longer cycles.
What do you store them in? Right now, I store them in a wetbag in our bathroom. When I'm done with them, I throw them in there until I do laundry. It works for us well because I'm doing cloth diaper laundry every other day. When we're done in diapers, then I will probably keep a small bucket in the bathroom filled with water. Then I can soak them in there until laundry time.
What about stains? Buy darker colors that way you don't even have to worry about the possibility of staining. I used mine for two cycles now and they don't have any stains...but then again they are all pretty dark in color. Honestly if they stain, I don't care. It's not like anyone is going to see them anyway!
All in all, I've had a great experience...well as much of a pleasant experience as you can have with your period. I had always heard that people who try mama cloth would never go back - now I understand that! Like I said before, I didn't have enough to get me through the cycle and I had forgotten to throw them in with my diaper laundry. So I ended up having to use a disposable pad. Ewwww!! The smell was worse, it felt awful and the sticky stuff kept on sticking everywhere BUT where it was supposed to stick! The cloth mama pads are comfortable, virtually odor-free and you can hardly even tell that they are there. I'm sold.
Next step...The Diva Cup! Well, I'm not that brave yet...maybe in a few months...
Now for the fun stuff for all of you who have read this far! For those that want to try mama cloth (or the Diva Cup), feel free to take 10% off your mama cloth order with coupon code MAMA. The coupon is good through 8/31 and is only applicable to mama cloth and Diva Cups/Wash. Additionally, one lucky reader will receive a Luna Pads Mini Pad and Liner. To enter, please leave only ONE COMMENT with your contact info and make sure that you are a fan of Fluff Envy on Facebook. One random comment will be chosen on August 8th. Open to US and Canada only. Thank you!

A Little About Me
Many of you already know me but for those who don't, here's a little about me!
First of all - I've never done a blog before, I have no clue what I'm doing and as you can see by the layout, etc that I've done the least amount of work to get it started. I did add a fun little gadget - so be sure to feed my fishies over there. My girls insisted that I keep them up...
So...I'm Justine - a loving wife to Nate and a busy stay/work at home mom to Samantha (age 5), Camryn (age 3) and Alexis (age 1). In my past life, I was a CPA that had a full time job. I hated that the girls' daycare teachers spent more time with my kids than I did. So when Alexis was born, I would lay in bed at night dreaming of ways to be able to stay at home. Then one night it dawned on me - I knew there was a need for a cloth diaper store in my area and I love talking about fluff - so what better career than to sell cloth diapers! I brought it up to Nate the next morning and to my surprise he did NOT think I was crazy! A few hours later I was starting my own business. The rest you all know.
There are my three beautiful girls! Samantha not only looks exactly like me, but she has my attitude too - we're going to have our hands full with her! Camryn is my hubby's consolation prize for not getting his boy. She is the tough one of the three and will literally knock you over with her hugs. I see a future linebacker in her! And Alexis is a good mix of the two. I can't wait to see how she grows up and interacts with her older sisters.
I'm sure I've bored you enough with my first blog post - I promise the rest will actually be cloth diaper related with some giveaways thrown in for good measure :)
